Anitra Grisales

Academic Editing & Translation

Whether you are a first-time author puzzling over how to turn your dissertation into a book, a senior scholar with new material and arguments to organize, or a signed author with readers’ reports to address, I can help. I specialize in developmental and substantive editing of nonfiction book manuscripts and proposals, in addition to consulting on the publishing process in general.

As a published author who has also worked in editorial acquisitions at Duke University Press, I understand the craft and the industry from multiple perspectives. I have shepherded over 100 books into print in the last two decades, and I look forward to doing the same for yours.

“Anitra is one of the most attentive and reliable editors out there. She works according to agreed-upon needs—whether developmental and conceptual editing or late-stage ‘second eyes’ editing—and is excellent. … Thank you, Anitra, for your commitment and reliability over the years!”

Please be as detailed as possible, including the nature and length of your work, your goal in working with an editor, and your time frame. I tend to book out several months in advance, so please keep that in mind when considering your deadline.
